A level 1 BICSI installer will perform basic construction tasks in telecommunication rooms. These tasks include erecting superstructures, mounting electronics equipment in the superstructure and running and connecting power and transmission cabling. A successful BICSI level 1 installer will have a basic knowledge of electrical systems and will be capable of reading basic electrical and mechanical documentation. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position as well as completion of the BICSI IN100 Training and Certification Program. A successful level 2 BICSI installer will have a thorough understanding of the following Standards, Codes and Methodologies: ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B, 570-B, 606-A, ANSI/J-STD-607-A,TIA-569-B, ANSI/NECA/BICSI-568. and must be able to perform the basic installation tasks with minimal supervision and direction. A level 2 BICSI installer must be able to read and interpret a detailed job specification. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position as well as completion of the BICSI IN100 and IN 200 Training and Certification Program. A BICSI Certified Technician will supervise a crew of BICSI installers performing basic construction tasks in Telecommunication Rooms. A successful BICSI Certified Technician must be able to perform installation tasks without supervision. The BICSI Certified Technician must be able to prepare pre-cabling tasks such as a job plan, identification of active circuits and cutover plans; job related paperwork such as progress reports and circuit documentation; and testing and troubleshooting of all cables installed. A high school diploma or equivalent is required as well as completion of the BICSI IN100, IN200, and TE300 Training and Certification Program. Supervisory experience is desired for this position. A level 2 installer will perform basic construction tasks in a central office environment. These tasks include erecting superstructures, mounting electronics equipment in the superstructure and running and connecting power and transmission cabling. A successful level 2 installer will have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a central office environment and must be able to perform the basic installation tasks with minimal supervision and direction. A level 2 installer must be able to read and interpret a detailed job specification. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. A level 3 installer will supervise a crew of 1-4 technicians installing telecommunications equipment in a central office environment. A successful level 3 installer must have a minimum of 3 years of central office experience and be able to perform installation tasks without supervision. The level 3 installer must be able to prepare a Method of Procedure (MOP) and other job related paperwork such as Progress Reports, Job Information Memorandums and Change Orders. Other responsibilities include training of level 1 and 2 installers and testing and turn-up of equipment. A Power Detail Engineer will plan power distribution installations, augmentations and decommissionings in a central office environment. These tasks include determining present and future current load, equipment location, power distribution cabling, racking, grounding and aisle lighting requirements. In addition, a Power Detail Engineer will create bill of materials, create comprehensive and accurate installation specifications, update customer documentation including drawings, and track jobs using in-house job management software. A successful Power Detail Engineer will be proficient with telecom customer specifications and standards and is computer literate. A two year technical degree or equivalent experience is required.
